1. Yes

2. About twice a week

3.---

4. For support and to keep everything under control. You dont even have the slightest bit of bounce wearing one of these babys : )

5. Best brand that I have heard of and they are great for support.

6. Works better than I expected. Didn%26#039;t really believe they would reduce bounce but they do : )

7. Very comfortable compared to others I have tried. And they work a lot better too as they have more hold/support.

8. Yep. They%26#039;re great!

9. Maybe have them in prettier designs? As I am quite young, I feel like the designs are too boring. So there should be some better designs for younger people as well as older people.

10. Bigger range with more colours so we still feel fashionable whilst exercising. : )

11. So much better than others I have tried. They give more hold and support compared to others.

12. Yep, they are all great. Size, shape, fit, fabric are fine. Would be better if there were more colours though.

x|||1. Yes

2. Every time I work out

4. To hold everything still while I%26#039;m working out. No bounce for me. I prefer not to stretch my boobs to my belly button.

5. I have tried a lot of sports bras, but shock absorber is the best I have come across.

8. Yes

9. More designs and cool colours maybe.

10. Don%26#039;t stop trying to make your product better.

11. The best

12. The fabric works. Designs not bad. The back band can be a little tight though. Overall, still THE BEST.|||1.Do you use a sports bra? yes

2.If yes, how often? every time I go jogging

3.If not, why?

4.What are your needs from a sports bra? to keep my large cups from bouncing too much when running and to keep them from sagging

5.If you use a shock absorber sports bra, why? because I need a more expensive one being a larger cup size

6.What do you like/dislike about it? Does it work as well as expected? yes i think it was value for money

7.Is it comfortable/uncomfortable? i had to get used to it, you%26#039;re breathing a lot more doing strenuous exercise and i could tell i had something across my chest

8.Does it fulfil your requirements/promises made to the customer? yes it does what it says on the Box, M%26amp;S do ones to suit your physical exercise

9.What would you like to change about it? nothing really

10.What future developments would you like to see? one that is a bit more feminine

11.How do you feel it compares to other sports bras? it looks the same as other sports bras

12.Do you like the manufacturing aspects of the sports bra? (e.g. fabric, shape and size) yes its tough wearing fabric, stretchy, has wide straps.

My 2002 honda civic needs lower ball joint boots?

I went in to get an oil change %26amp; was told my front compliance bushings %26amp; lower ball joint boots need to be replaced.

Is this caused by needing new shock absorbers or a new spring %26amp; they are just trying to rip me off for something i dont need?|||You should have asked them to show you what was wrong. If the boots that retain the grease are damaged the joint will eventually fail from lack of lubrication. l would just have the ball joints replaced if that is the case since the labor cost should be the same.

Get under the front of the car and look at any and all rubber boots to see if they look damaged to you. If not get a second opinion. I have never had to replace shock absorbers on a Honda even when having 240,000 miles on the vehicle.

BMW shocks absorber suggestion ?

I have a 325i (e46) 04. The car has 68k miles and I never changed the shocks ever since I first bought it brand new. The ride comfort is not the same as before. Seems like thr front right shock is gone because everytime I go into a little pothole there%26#039;s a funny little noise and I also feel it on the steering wheel.

What I%26#039;m asking is, does anyone know any comfortable stock shock absorbers? Brand names w.e.

Thnx abunch|||Bilstien was the brand BMW used on most of their cars. They can be found at most national auto parts stores.|||Monroe offers the best ride quality if you are just looking for something that is comfortable and equivalent in quality to the ones BMW sells. Keep in mind that BMW does not make their own shocks, somebody else does and just stamps the BMW logo on it.|||I suggest monroe, but do not buy the sport one%26#039;s because i have the other one%26#039;s but i forgot what they are called, but they give great comfort, trust me from experience.

I bought chevrolet astro van 1991 with a digital odometer just 42000 mi ,is it true?

i replaced its exhaust (muffler (which was unoriginal) and outlet pipe also i replaced the original parts of each of fuel pump, front and rear shock absorbers, all of upper and lower ball joints, universal joint, fan clutch and some minor parts .the reading of digital odometer can be changed for such models?|||Is it possible that the van sat for a period of time or was just not driven much. My dad bought a 1969 Camaro brand new, and still has it to this day and it only has 58,000 miles on it.|||you are so stupid, i cannot continue typing. it has overtaken my physical energy.

|||is their room for another digit?|||Many older models of motor vehicles would only register 100,000 miles (or rather 99,999 miles, then flip back to 000,000)

That odometer MAY have cycled already.

But, then, you mentioned that you have a digital readout which suggests that the odometer may be controlled by the on-board computer. I%26#039;m not sure if a digital mechanism would have a %26quot;limit%26quot; then zero itself out, and restart.

I%26#039;ve probably just confused you even more.

What charges can I bring?

Lat year I bought a car privately which had been damaged, I found a garage to undertake the work - drew up a work agreement after the garage owner had inspected the car twice. He signed this as did the owner, it outlined the work and the how much he would be paid. He had been permitted to use quality used parts including airbags.

To keep this short I collected the car in a hurry as I was behind schedule to leave for Europe, he assured me all the work has been done to the last detail. On the road I noticed the steering stiff and by the time I arrived at my destination there was a short in the horn.

On changing the wheels the mechanic noticed the wheel base was uneven. The first operation on the work list was to check the alignment which was clearly not done!

I returned the car to the garage having notified him of the problems as soon as they occurred. he fixed the horn - reluctantly changed a shock absorber and made it clear he wasn%26#039;t going to do anything else. I again left for Europe and on arriving took the car to a main dealer and spent 拢200+ on a report which stated that a figure ~ Euro 5000 would have to be spent to put it right the airbags are inoperative! The dealer deemed the car as un-roadworthy. I believe he spent no more than a couple of hundred pounds where as he was paid more than a couple of thousands!

I have sent the garage owner a registered letter outlining the problems and indicating I am about to start legal action. Can someone please advise of the actual complaints I can register. UK only.|||Doethine is correct. The small claims courtis the route you should take.

The application can be made on line and will cost you 拢35 which you can add to the amount claimed.

You will need to use your work agreement as proof of the work that was required to be carried out.

Your invoice and receipt will show how much you were charged for the work, (and how much was paid).

The main dealer report will sjhow what work is required to bring the car up to standard.

Check this report and you should be able to claim back any items that are on your initial work agreement.

Explain to the garage what you are doing, in writing, and give them the opportunity to put the vehicle right or refund some of your money.

In doing so set a time limit for the garage to respond and if they do not respond the go ahead with the claim.

www.moneyclaim.gov.uk is the site you need to use to make the claim.|||I%26#039;m in the U.S. but our laws are similar. You can take the mechanic to court and get your money back. If the second mechanic can%26#039;t appear as your witness, you will need something from him that states exactly what he found that was not done as promised by the first mechanic. In addition, if you had to miss work etc. because of the first mechanic, you may be able to be compensated for that.|||Fraud.

You had a detailed list of what work needed to be completed on the car yet it turned out you had to take it elsewhere and found that the work paid for was not done. That is fraud.

Take it to small claims and sue for work that was paid for and not done, like the value of the wheel alignment. Do not ask for more than you are entitled to.|||There%26#039;s a lot of this going on. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/72602鈥?/a>

This is a civil matter and the place to bring it is the small claims court at your local County Court. The staff will help you draft your statement of claim and the judge will give assistance to you if you are unrepresented. The garage owner was negligent in not carrying out the work to the standard you would expect of an experienced mechanic and your application is for damages consisting of the money you paid for shoddy work and the extra expense you were to as the result of his negligence. It is hard to say how much money you have lost in terms of the former value of the car and its present value, but you can claim for the difference between what you paid and its present (scrap?) value and hope for the best.

Coilovers for fiesta mk6 5dr 2004plt.?

VW Golf 97, strange sound?

I drive the VW Gold Deco, and i have been experiencing a strange sound on the left front wheel, so i have changed the shock absorbers + suspension as well as the bearing and the disc but i still get this noise, the shock absorbers mountings look ok to me? plz help|||I bet the Tie Rod End Link for that wheel is worn out. When those things wear out, they tend to make all kinds of strange noises. Shaking steering?

i have a 94 model C-220 sports...

when i drive above 60 or 80 kms my steering starts to shake...

really dont know whats the problem

to solve it i have done the following repairs:

REPAIRED BUSHINGS

REPAIRD BALL BEARINGS

CHANGED FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS WHICH WERE JAMMED

CHANGED FRONT BOTH TIRES

i have done all this yet its still not working for me... i will be glad to get a good answer from you guys|||Have your wheels checked to see if they%26#039;re bent or warped. Bad wheels (not tires) will do this. Also check the alignment and your tie rod ends.|||maybe a wheel balance?|||Better have a front end or alignment shop check the front end for bad parts, such as ball joints and tie rod ends, ect... Something has to be worn out or way out of adjustment.|||I have heard that this is due to incorrect wheel alignment...|||you could also along with the other answers have a bad power steering pump, bad steering linkage, or low fluid. Also check your bushings on your tie rods.|||sounds like u could use a front end alignment. also, have someone check the balance of the new front tires, i have had places put the wrong size weights on the tire when balancing them. hope this helps!!

Vauxhall Monterey 3.1 diamond?

I have to change the shock absorbers,do I have to clamp the springs.

I do most of the maintenance ,but never a shock absorber

cheers|||The springs on the sock assembly have a huge amount of tension on them! You need to get a set of spring compressors from your local auto spares store. You can get a good set for 拢30.00 and its money well spent as the springs can very easily brake an arm.

Remember to compress the springs as much as possible before you remove the top suspension mount.

Ja.|||Yes: You%26#039;ll need to compress them enough to remove the assembly complete.

How to improve suspension for TVS MAX 100R Bike?

Hi, I%26#039;m using TVS Max 100R bike. It is in very good condition except its suspension. I%26#039;m getting back pain often. I changed the rear shock absorber to splendor%26#039;s shock absorber. Now it is little better. If you ppl have a better solution than this, please suggest.

Regards,

Shan|||wat you did is better one but in past bike their is no much conc about like suspension and all even if u changed so with new one u ll get same problem so better try avoid that bike go newer one now bikes having better tech in suspension and all|||Change it to Gas Charged Suspension like in Hero Honda Hunk. You%26#039;ll never regret. Its the best in its class!|||Chances are the bike is not the problem it%26#039;s you.Try changing your riding position you may be putting too strain on your back.Move your handle bars so you are not in such an upright position up or down just so you are leaning slightly forward and not so vertical%26#039;|||Back pain is due to a lot of reasons. If you are sure it is because of your bike, there is very little you can do because the small wheelbase has its own limitations.

If you think that it is time to replace them, go for the SNS (spring in spring) suspension of the bajaj bikes. They should be able to give you a cheap and effective replacement. Else if you can increase your budget go for the ones with a nitrox reservoir. These work on the gas principle and are more comfy.

Sometimes these shox work best with a pillion only. So you are adviced to put them on the softest setting. A couple of days respite from bike riding can work wonders too !

Shock absorber?

is it cheaper to change my 92 corolla shock absorber in singapore or in JB ? How much to change the front set?|||In Bangkok, we do it for $10,000 baht|||are you talking countries if so come to utah

Lancer Rear Shock absorber?

My car is Mitsubishi lancer executive 1995. I am going to change the rear shock pair. Can anyone tell me how much cost me for that in Australia ?(only shock absorber price not the labor charge)|||I would say for that car they%26#039;re probably about $50-70 a piece depending on what brand and quality of the shock. I own a 2004 Chevy Silverado Full Size Truck and just changed my shocks about 30k miles ago and the shocks were about $100 a piece so for that small car they have to me cheap. Hope this helps. Lowering my 1996 V6 4dr Honda Accord?

what do i need to replace to lower my honda accord? i dont want it super low...maybe drop it down 2 inches or so...will i need to change shock absorbers or do i just change the springs?? anything else need to be replaced??|||i do not believe you can do that. civic is already low and is not necessarily needed to be lower.if you do.you will not be able to go in and out.|||yall need to get yall self an suv if u want THICK honeys like me 2 like u|||ur a F/A/G/G/O/T/ dfigueroa2k8 go suck ur daddy%26#039;s D/I/C/K|||YES YOU CAN LOWER IT...TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL JUNK YARD AND HAVE THEM CRUSH IT...LOWERED|||a cheap way would be to hack the springs, any mechanic can do that pretty cheap and the absorbers and that can stay stock

I have both civic 95 & 00 models bt I noticed that the left rear body is lower than the right.. need help?

i already changed the shock absorbers but I still have some delta from the left body height compared to the right.|||it%26#039;s possible you have a broken spring or possibly a broken mount

Can a radiator replacement of my Honda crv cause the shock absorbers to go bad?

Question Details: I have a 1998 Honda CR-V and took it in for an oil change. Found out that I needed a new radiator. Car has 113,000 miles. When I got the car back from the radiator replacement, I drove it home and it felt like I was driving a truck or a boat. Every bump made my car shake and bounce. I took it back and they said the pressure in the tires (which they also rotated) was too much. They lowered the pressure, but the car still bounces any time I go over any type of bumps. And when I press on the brake to stop and the car finally comes to a stop, the back end of the car is still moving and shaking back and forth. Why did this happen when they just changed the radiator. My car was driving just fine before I brought it in. Heading back to the Honda dealership for the 3rd day in a row for resolution. Just wanted to be able to talk %26quot;car intelligent%26quot; to the dealership tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for any insight.|||Lucy-

Its not the fact they changed the Radiator or adjusted the air in your tires.

I have encountered this problem before as a mechanic.

Sometimes what will happen is the shocks get %26quot;work worn%26quot; into a certain location within the shock tube.

Let me explain.

Shock Absorbers are nothing more than an oil filled tube with a plunger, rubber %26quot;O%26quot; rings, check valves and control valves, filled with a light oil and pressurised with gas.

As you drive your car the plunger locates itself in a certain location in the shock tube, (this is the part you see with your eye). After miles and miles of the plunger working in a particular location inside the tube is wears a spot in the steel. This is partly due to failing seals on the end of the shock ram. As this debris accumulates it acts like sand paper in that one single section of the shock tube.

Now having said that, the O Ring Seal can no longer maintain its proper sealing function within the shock tube. So what will happen is this allows the oil and the gas to leak by that seal, and the springs that your car are riding on are no longer controlled by the absorbers.

By lifting the vehicle off the ground to service your radiator the wheels and shocks are allowed to go to their full extension, picking up this debris and collecting it in front of or behind that O-Ring Seal. Now the seal cannot do its job and the shocks will fail to control the suspension springs. So when the vehicle was returned to the ground and the shocks returned to their %26quot;Rest%26quot; position they allowed the pressurized gas and oil to escape, or enough debris built up inside the shock and disabled the control and check valves, rendering the shock useless.

This eventually happens to all shocks. Its just in the lighter vehicles you are more prone to feeling it because they are so light.

I would recommend that you have the shocks and struts replaced before the wet weather gets really started. Having bad shocks and struts during the wet weather is an excellent recipie for a very severe accident.

Good Luck, I hope I helped you out!|||radiator replacement does not affect the shocks on the car. it is likely a coincidence that they went bad at the same time you had the radiator replaced.|||a radiator replacement has nothing to do with the shocks. nothing at all.|||No It cant, but they could have accidently did someting to them, but very unlikely.|||No!!!!! A radiator has nothing to do with your suspension. Dealers are only good for selling cars. they can care less about you once you own the vehicle|||No, a radiator replacement wouldn%26#039;t have caused that. Also, they should not have had to take your shocks off to change your radiator. If they jacked it up to get under the car and remove some hoses, then dropped it back with considerable force, then it could have caused some damage to them...but proving that would probably be almost impossible.|||is the radiator is reall heavy, or the shocks were taken out during the process|||no way no how|||No, the radiator could not have affected the shock absorbers. The radiator holds coolant and allow the flow of coolant to keep the engine cool and to prevent overheating over the vehicle. Shock absorbers control how the vehicle rides. It sounds like that the shock absorbers just happened to go bad. I%26#039;d recommend taking it to the dealership and have them replace the shock absorbers, coil springs, leaf springs, and ball joints. All of these affect the ride and handling of the vehicle.|||lol@ %26quot;dealers only care about you til you buy, then they forget to care%26quot;....some of you people are REAL idiots....

Adjusting the shock absorbers on your car?

I purchased a car recently with 18%26quot; wheels and the ride is pretty unforgiving. I was also told my the garage who serviced it the shocks were pretty rock hard too.

I want to try and soften things up, hopefully without spending much cash!! Upon looking at my front shocks the other day I noticed 2 dials at the top, which I can only assume is the preload? I was wondering if messing about with this will help, but don%26#039;t want to fiddle and end up bottoming out on every bump in the road!!

If this isn%26#039;t a possibility, would new springs help? I don%26#039;t want to change the wheels unless I have too.

Cheers :-)|||Sorry I though you said adjusting the shock absorbers on your cat. My cat used to adjust his own shock absorbers and as he aged he became really canny and found others ways of jumping down from heights. Not daft those cats you know.

As to you car I have no idea sorry.|||sounds like you have sports shocks so u can adjust the pre load but its trial and error you could remove the shocks replace them with standard and ebay the sports ones springs dont really change the ride just the height|||I don%26#039;t think there are any adjustments you can do to the struts on most cars. Unfortunately with large rims it is going to be a rough ride. The larger the rims, the smaller the cushion of air between the car and the road.|||Some shocks can be adjusted but this purely depends on whay type they are. It sounds like the shocks and springs have been upgraded as well.

If you put in softer springs you run the risk of the arches buffing the tyre sidewalls- you could overcome this by %26quot;lipping%26quot; the arches but this should only be done if you are competent to do so or likewise someone who is.

Hope this helps

What is wrong with my '98 Jeep Cherokee?

I am getting a bit of unsteadiness in the front end. When I hit a bump in just the right conditions, the front end starts to bounce/shake/shimmy uncontrollably until I slow almost to a complete stop and start going again. The problem persists even after changing the front shock absorbers and wheel bearings.|||It%26#039;s called the Jeep Death Wobble. And it%26#039;s common.

Shake down the front end for worn ball joints and tie rods/ends and replace as necessary. Then install a new steering stabilizer and have an alignment done.

Best of Luck.|||Its your ball joints and tie rods!!!|||DEFIANTLY the tie rods. the exact same thing happened to me on a ford explorer. shouldn%26#039;t be too exspensive

I need to change my front shock absorber for honda civic 05. witch is better, fluid or gas shocks?

As a rule gas shocks are better.Just make sure you buy a quality product and not some cheap imitations from the far east.

Retrofitting an a/c and changing the shocks...?

Hi,

I own a 98 model Maruti800 which completed 85000 kms... now i want to retrofit the a/c with the Sanden made one... i have a few doubts...

1)is there a need to change the radiator fan to 120 watts

2)will the sanden kit damage my engine

3)refrigerent used R2 or R1324a

4)cost of retrofitting the a/c

my front shock absorbers are also not working properly... so planning to change them

1)Maruti service station quoted 1500 for each. is that a fair price

2)is there any other aftermarket shock absorbers available for maruti 800

3)can i use shocks from alto?|||Best course for fitting an ac in Maruti 800 is fitting the coil behind the petrol tank.It will cost around 10k but the cooling will be fantastic. Also the radiator will not be affected as it will get direct air from the front grille.

Shock absorbers can also be repaired for around 150-200. Instead of buying repaired shockers, best course is to get your own repaired.

I also own Maruti 800 1986model and still running fine.|||Sorry Yogiraj, I had to give you thumbs down.

First of all, it will cost Rs. 28K approx. to fit good a.c kit at a dealer and 15k outside.

The kit are fitted at front to reduce No: of parts required to transmit power/ refrigerant from front to back.

Back to your question, brother, don%26#039;t you think you are adding an excess pressure on the 12 year old engine which is closer to its time? I say, forget of fitting any a.c kit, It will give you more trouble. Its R12 not R2. Any way its harmful to atmosphere than R134a.

And about the shock-up, the cost id fair enough for a dealer. But you will get cheaper outside.

Car shocks, Absorbers?? Mechanic help?

I want to change out my shocks to make my car less bouncy because it%26#039;d 6 years old and the man working at the dealership said it would be smart to have a mechanic look at it, he told me i might not have to get the shocks change but maybe the absorber so come back tomorrow, I thought shocks and absorbers were both the same thing? Can someone please explain to me the difference?|||No there is only either shock absorbers or struts.

Shock absorbers have a joint on each end that a stud fits through to stop it.

Struts have a joint on one end that goes to the axle. On the other end there is a threaded bolt. If you have struts in the front there will be a plastic stru cover over the wheel wells.|||They are the same thing|||IMO it%26#039;s the same thing. They are fairly easy to change, if you want to give it a go

Hope this helps.|||They are. Ask him for a better explanation.

Also: state your YEAR MAKE and MODEL!!

Do tires effect shock absorbers in cars?

Ok so, my old honda crv needed new tires. It was running fine... I just took it in to get new tires and the oil changed. But then the mechanic called and said I needed new shock absorbers. I said I%26#039;d take care of it a different day, because I hadn%26#039;t even noticed the problem. However, since I got my car back with the new tires, it has been running horribly. The best way I can describe it is it feels like a school bus that bumps up and down with every singly tiny bump on the road.

What could be the cause of this?|||Well, the inverse is certainly true. Shock absorbers can effect tires. You will get some abnormal wear on your tires if you don%26#039;t replace your shocks. The tires won%26#039;t remain in constant contact with the road, which is bad of course, in terms of safety and tire wear.

If your shocks were fine before, maybe you have a sociopath mechanic who changed them out for some bad ones. Not likely...|||The mechanic was right. You need new shock absorbers.|||yeahh agree w/ first person

Shock absorbers noise?

I noticed recently that front of the car makes some noise when i get over a bump, or a bumpy road.. it seems like it is coming from the shock absorber.. my car is 2001 Chevy Impala.. are the shock aborbers worn out? or i can just apply DW 40 and it will be fine?

and if i have to change it (the front two)... how much around it will cost me?

thanks|||try lean or push down the front right and front left side of your car..

if it bounces back as like a spring your shock absorbers are fine..

the noise could be something from your car..maybe a worn engine support|||Most likely be a worn bush around the shock absorber area, take a look if somethings worn. Push the car down at the front and release to see if it dampens the spring back while on recovering its position, try comparing either side, also look for leaking etc around the base of the shock which will be a sure sign of malfunction|||Most likely you have a bad upper McPherson strut mount where it mounts to the sheet metal body tower mounts under the hood. There%26#039;s a bearing or isolator bushing that should be replaced whenever you have new strut shock absorbers installed. You%26#039;ll have to have two new shocks installed and new strut mount bushings. You can%26#039;t really test for the bad bushing easily unless your strong enough to pick up on the tire with the car on a lift and see the bad bushing move. You might also have a bad torsion bar bushing at one of the wheels.

See if you have a Pep Boys auto store in your area. They sell the new strut shocks and install them. Make positively sure you have them write on the shop order to install NEW upper bushing/ bearing mounts!! You may have to pay for a front end alignment as well and the total cost will be almost $500.|||Bushing wear/ replace i%26#039;d use brake masters if available... they insall shocks reasonble price you may have struts in front?depends on car and year.. another shop is Midas reliable!|||yes either the shock absorber or the control arm bushings

When my car gets filled with people in the back seat, and I hit a bump, it hits really loud, suggestions?

I have a Nissan Pathfinder 1999, and I recently got the shock absorbers changed, but still when the car is full (im talkin about max 5 people includind me driving) and I get to even a tiny bump, the car makes a huge sound, like I hit a giant pot hole. Any suggestions?|||If everything in the rear suspension checks out OK, you probably will need to install heavier rear springs or at a minimum, either air shocks or spring loaded shocks.|||Check your rear bushings on the sway bar, control arms or springs. If bushings seem okay then check the shocks.Although new, they can still be defective. Also check your exhaust brackets and mounts. These can also be causing this noise.|||jst a one solution that works 100% its that u jst add RUBBER GAPER (they looks like round shape will fitted ove shocks) in between the shocks and the car%26#039;s body it will higher ur car at least 3-5 inchees!! in PAKISTAN we all use them in our cars so that the car won%26#039;t stuck in jumps!! we says them in our language GUTKY!!

What all is involved in changing the coil springs in a 98 Chevrolet C1500 4x2? What parts have to be removed?

I want to add either 2%26quot; taller coil springs or 2%26quot; coil spacers, but i want to know what all is involved in this before i order the parts. Do the spindles have to be removed? Shock absorbers? Control Arms?|||disconnect shocks and remove lower control arm and the sway bar links have to com off and is easier to do on a hoist|||you remove the shocks one at a time and you might have to disconnect the swing arms

Is the Queen any good on shock absorbers?

My shocks are givin me an awful lot of trouble lately. I don%26#039;t know what to do. Change them or what? I heard the queen was a great hand at doing shocks so anyone know how much she charges? She is fully qualified as a mechanic? isn%26#039;s she?|||Just when are you going to let this ludicrous theme die it%26#039;s natural death.Everyone, except the crass hoax from horroscopes,is of the opinion, that this foolishness has been done to death.I thought it was dead in the womb but,that%26#039;s just me.|||Be quiet. You are going OTT with this joke. Once or twice is OK but this is crazy. I%26#039;m no royalist but you are making a fool of yourself.|||I suspect she would struggle w/ absorbing the shock f/ this question.|||She was a mechanic during WW2. Cars have changed a lot since then. I suggest you take your car to someone who understands up-to-date mechanics.|||She can work on older model vehicles, but not modern vehicles;things have changed in the world of mechanics.|||Not know about Queen.....however Grandpa Fatwon make offer for take look at problem. Only make small charge for labour + parts.|||This woman has help to change her knickers, cannot see her doing a good job on your shocks, but you could ask prince charles he knows everything about everything,so he is your man especially if you want to know about infidelity|||Yes, she is fully qualified as a mechanic...

But I think you should change them...

I think the shock absorbers on my 1997 1.8 Vectra may be worn out?

Its done 100,000 miles and I don%26#039;t know when they were last changed, will replacing the normal spring shocks with good quality gas ones make a real diffence to handling, breaking and cornering? I don%26#039;t want the car lowered. Suggestions appreciated, please note abuse will be reported.|||if they havent been done befor then they hav not done bad 9 years and 100,000 not bad at all

monroe are very good as far as non genuine parts are conserned,

or gen parts only!|||The spring shocks are struts. If they are worn(noticed by a thunk on bumps) and with 100,000 miles i have no doubt they are you need to replace the struts. Im guessing front have struts and rears are just good ole gas shocks. You can%26#039;t switch from struts, or springs, to gas shocks. And yes replacing the shocks will help with handling.|||if it ain%26#039;t broke don%26#039;t fix it rear bushes go very often and wear tyres but apart from that all very good.bushes changed very easy by any half good mechanic

Can I put Mountain bike wheels on a kink curb 2011 bmx frame and a shock absorber fork?

I have a 2011 kink curb bmx bike and I was wondering if I could put mountain bike rims and tire on it and change the fork to a shock absorber fork? If I can%26#039;t why not?|||You can not put 24%26#039;s or 26%26#039;s on a bike meant for 20%26#039;s. If you buy a fork that fits your headset you can change them out but for the price of a descent fork and some new wheels you could buy a low end mountain bike and have two.|||to change your forks you will need to change your stem as well. that%26#039;s the piece holding the handle bars. and no you cant because the forks with shock absorption are longer than the original forks, causing a huge imbalance on the bike. it would no longer be level and wouldn%26#039;t ride right. at least that%26#039;s what i expect to happen. and hey dude just sell the kink bike for some $$$ and buy a mountain bike if you want one. and hey if you want a mountain bike with a more bmx like frame look at hardtail mountain bikes. a bit more expensive-but worth it.

Changing suspension top mounts?

garage want to charge me 拢40 to change shock absorber top mount on my ford fiesta. anyone know if it is easy to do it yourself|||these are struts and take special tools to disassemble, like a spring compressor

Which company is the best for shock absorber?

My car is Van Terra(Turtle Top). My van doesn%26#039;t drive smoothly on bumpy roads and it wobbles from side to side and I keep changing the suspension and the shock absorber but I keep having the same problem.|||Monroe, but you may need to check the suspension and tires for this concern|||Monroe|||Go with a good Monroe gas shock absorber.

Are you sure the shocks are the problem?|||Monroe or Gabriel|||I do not know the term %26quot;Turtle Top%26quot; but if that means High Top Conversion van then the solution is a heavier duty truck shock in your size. If it came from the factory like that then there may be suspension related issues but if it was an after market conversion (as I suspect) then the factory suspension system is having trouble dealing with all the added weight. Rear helper springs and stronger shocks may do the trick for you. You may want to take it to a 4X4 Shop ( I know it is not an off road-er) but they are more experienced with heavy duty equipment than the local tire and alignment shop.|||Konis are the best IMHO. They are pricey, but they are worth it, most of them are adjustable.|||Rancho makes a great shock and is on my Explorer..|||try Monroe or any brand of shock absorber

How do i know my car needs new shock absorbers?

I recently changed them and i want to know if i chose correctly.|||push down on the car

if it comes back up and stops, your ok

if it bounces and continues up and down, bad|||when you push up and down on the bumper get it moving pretty good after you stop it should not continue to bounce more than 1 and a half times|||i always heard to give it a bounce test by putting all your weight down hard on a corner and if it bounces more than 3 times you need new. and of course if you see a lot of fluid leaking from them. a little seeping is normal. i used to buy and sell cars and had a lot of cars state inspected and that was how i was told it was done by the inspectors.|||where ever you put them on, front or back just push down on the front or back and if it bounces once and quits then your good shape.|||if they r new they should be the good|||The old bounce test was the way back in the day. Not sure how good it is now. If you put new ones on, they should be fine at least for fifteen or twenty thousand miles. I just swapped a couple out that were leaking at 12x,xxx miles, they didn%26#039;t seem to be bad, but were, because they were leaking. The truck doesn%26#039;t ride any better now, but at least they aren%26#039;t leaking.

What is done if shock absorber is leaking?

a) Remove and replace shock absorber

b) Clean and recharge shock absorber

c) Change seal packings in shock absorber

d) Replace shock absorber mounting bushings

I think its an a , but could it be d ?|||if the shock is leaking fluid its because the seals are gone inside the shock which are not fixable so your answer is a replace them|||A and only A. The mounting bushings won%26#039;t stop a shock from leaking. However a new shock will come with new mounting bushings.|||yep-A|||The answer is (a)

There are shocks such as those made by Bilstein that can be rebuilt. Most people won%26#039;t pay for expensive shocks like these.

Here%26#039;s Bilstein%26#039;s site where you can get their shocks rebuilt.|||A is the correct answer|||E ) Alignment|||A.. Remove and replace the shock absorber.|||it,s A ! you can,t recharge them. when they go bad you have to replace them.|||if youre cramming for an exam the answer is A..replace it .if youre asking because yours IS leaking it all depends on the type of shocker,as well as being gas or oil filled some motors have magnetically reactive fluid(ferrofluid). i just had mine done the other day and it cost me 拢50 quid per shock, fitted (vauxhall vectra. Please remember though, you can%26#039;t just do one, you have to do two at a time)that was done at kwik fit by the way.Greater Manchester.|||Answer a is correct because it is cheaper to buy a new one than send the old one out to be rebuilt

Which shock absorbers are better?

I want to change the rear shocks on my %26#039;86 Mitsubishi Tredia. The old ones are in an awful state.I found new ones for sale, but they%26#039;re gas shocks.Whereas the originals were oil ones. The guy at the parts shop actually recommended oil shocks since the roads here where i live are quite bad.

So my question(s) :Should i buy the gas shocks that are made for Tredias?Or keep looking till i find something oil-based that is compatible? What are the pros/cons of each type?|||Seems like the oil shocks are more durible and will last longer as the gas shocks are smoother and not so much durible. It%26#039;s up to you bro.

Is there a rule of thumb on when to replace shock absorbers on a passenger car. my 99 taurus has 67,000 miles?

i have a 99 taurus with 67,000 miles on it.never changed shocks. seems to ride rough lately. is there a rule of thumb on what milage they should be changed?|||Mileage really doesn%26#039;t play a role in this matter. Go to the front of the car, and push down on it several times, trying to make the car bounce as if you were going over bumps in the road. If when you quit %26quot;bouncing%26quot; it, it keeps bouncing several times, then you will need new shocks. A new shock should only allow the car to bounce a time or two and then level out. Worn shocks will allow the car to continue to bounce even after hitting the dip or bump in the road. Might want to check the struts as well as for they can be a cause in the problem as well. Might as well, while your at it, see about the wheel alignment as well. This will also cause a rough ride. Hope this helps!|||If you push on the fender of your car and it bounces more than once the shocks need changed. I would say the shocks were dead or leaking miles ago.|||Monroe shocks recommends replacement every 60k miles. B/S! The bounce test described earlier is a good indication of shock wear. You can also run a finger along the shock or strut tubes, if there is an oily residue the assembly is leaking and will need replacement.

On taurus%26#039; they have a major problem with spring wear especially in the back. Check your ride height and for any spring damage. Ive seen more than a few broken springs on those cars.|||when they are leaking, or knocking when you drive in a pothole or physically broken and as you said riding rough.... good luck...bounce test is NOT GOOOD isnt the shock suppose to allow the vehicle to %26quot;bounce%26quot; or dampen the spring%26quot;s oscillations? do not do any bounce test that is crazy. visual inspection .|||there,s no rule of thumb,,as far as replacing shock,s,,on newer cars now the shock,s will last well over the 100.000 mile mark ,,and still perform well,,only exception is,,if you live in the country and you live on a really bad road, then they might need to be replaced more often,,the 60.000 rule,,does,nt apply that was set so that people would spend money,,on new shock,s, i know i do this for a living,,have done it for 35 yrs,,and have a very satisfied customer list,,over 2000,,to be exact,,and all are repeat customer,s,,hope this help,s you.|||The %26quot;bounce test%26quot; is not a reliable indication of shock/strut reliability. That went out with B%26amp;W TV.

The Motorist Assurance Plan (MAP) Uniform Inspection Guidelines have recently been amended to allow recommended replacement of shocks and struts at 50,000 miles.

MAP is a voluntary accreditation organization that offers peace of mind to the automotive repair consumer. MAP guidelines offer a uniform means to assess and recommend repairs. Not all repair facilities are(or deserve to be) accredited. If your local repair facility offers repair recommendations based on MAP guidelines, be assured that that facility is using the highest, industry-standard criteria to recommend a repair.

MAP facililities are inspected annually, and have to earn accreditation.

BTW: a shock and a strut perform the same function, i.e. dampening spring oscillation on jounce (up) and rebound (down).

The difference is a strut is load-bearing, and usually replaces upper balljoint and upper control arm, on FWD vehicles

When should automobile struts(shock absorbers)be changed? What are the signs?

do the classic bounce test and check with your maintenence schedule to see when they recommend it. You want to keep a close eye on maintenence schedule so you know when to check something. But the best way is the bounce test.

My car's rear shock absorber leaked the oil. Do I have to change it ? What will happen if I don't?

My car%26#039;s rear shock absorber leaked the oil. Do I have to change the shock absorber ? What will happen if I don%26#039;t change it?|||Its not any danger situation by any means, however what happens is if the shock looses its oil then it allows the rear wheels to basically bounce down the road, although you may not feel anything over a period of time the rear tires will wear uneven.|||You have a bad shock absorber ideally you should replace both sides. If you don%26#039;t replace it you will have a car that bounces and doesn%26#039;t handle correctly also will cause more wear on the tires. A shock absorber is a relatively simple thing to replace much cheaper and easier than a strut.|||sure you have to change it but change both sides. if you let it go it will weaken the springs and there is more money for new springs.

Focus shock absorbers ??

My 2001 Focus makes like a %26quot;hollow%26quot; front suspension noise when either the street is not flat smooth or when in potholes. Would it be due to worn out front shock absorbers ?

When changing them, do I need to re-align the front tires ?|||It could be one of many things,

A) Front Struts

B) Front Strut Mounts

or

C) Sway Bar Links

You will not have to re-align the front tires UNLESS you mess the the tie rod ends, there is only camber adjustment on the Foci, you can remove the struts/strut mount and spring by removing the ball joint from the bottom of the wheel hub, loosening the axle shaft nut, gently hammer the axle shaft out of the hub with the nut still on the end of the hub to prevent mushroom effect on the axle threads, and loosen the 3 nuts underneath the hood on top of each strut tower, and the bolts in the bottom of the strut that attach to the knuckle. The strut/ spring/ strut mount will come out in one big unit. MAKE SURE you use a spring compressor to compress the springs before you try to remove the strut mounts, to change the strut cartridges.

IF you have ANY DOUBTS... GO TO AN ASE CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN|||they are called struts and cost 200 to400 dollars.realine the front end when done|||Yes that is definately caused by leaking struts. There is no oil left in the strut to pressurize them. Replace and align.|||No! check the sway bar links. They are very common for failure. To they are attatched the strut on one end and the sway bar on the other. Where the attach there is a ball socket that wears out.

Peugeot Suspensions and Shock Absorbers?

I bought a peugeot 307 and after driving it for a while I realised that the ride is not so smooth. The suspensions are very stiff and very uncomfortable. I can feel every single bump in the road. How do i fix this. Do I need to change the suspension or the shock absorbers??? Or maybe something else. Please help|||It%26#039;s it%26#039;s stiff it may well be a shock absorber. If the springs are gone, then the corner with a duff spring will tend to be lower than the rest. It is possible that someone (who didn%26#039;t really know what they were doing!) had fitted %26quot;better%26quot; aftermarket springs/dampers, and knacked the handling up.

To test the dampers-

Try pressing each corner of car down (jump up and down on a corner of the bumper!), and seeing how quickly the car stops bouncing. Ideally when you jump off it should bounce back up past it%26#039;s resting position, and then go back to it%26#039;s normal position, without overshooting (called critical damping). A little overshooting isn%26#039;t too much of problem, but shows you dampers aren%26#039;t working as well as they could be (ideally). If your problem is due to the dampers being overly stiff, then you would have over-damping, and the car simply slowly return to it%26#039;s resting level without overshooting it%26#039;s resting level. This is NOT good as it puts very large forces of the suspension mounts.

A visual inspection is usually OK for springs. You will be able to see if they broken/cracked/corroded.

You could try taking it to a garage who%26#039;ll have a look for you. In the UK, Quick Fit, will check your suspension (and many other things) for free.|||Check the tyre pressures - if these are too high this will affect the ride comfort quite significantly. Small, sharp bumps are normally absorbed more by the tyres than by the suspension.

Does the car have standard wheels and tyres? 17%26quot; wheels with very low profile tyres will be less comfortable than 15%26quot; wheels with higher-profile tyres.

There should be no reason to change the dampers (shock absorbers) on a Peugeot - unlike other manufacturers Peugeot make their own dampers, and design them to last the life of the car. However, if a previous owner changes them for non-Peugeot replacement parts that could be the cause of the problems.

However, it could be that the normal settings of this car do not suit you.

How do you change the shock absorbers on a chevy suburban?

Now you did not say what year, but you DO NOT NEED A SPRING COMPRESSOR!! That is silly. You do not have McPherson Struts.

Your rear shocks are bolted to the axle and the body. If you look it is easy to figure out.

Depending upon 4x4 or 4x2 the front shocks are again bolted to the axle and a bracket just outside the frame.

If you are fairly thin, you can do this without jacking it up. On the front ones, it is easier to jack it up and PUT IT ON STANDS, and remove the front wheels. Just easier to reach. Put the stands under the front control arms so that the shocks are not acting as spring stops.

Good Luck|||Drive it down to the mechanic and say ...

%26quot;Hey can you change my shock absorbers?%26quot;

Lighten up...its a joke !|||If you are asking that here, you might want to take it to a shop. You need special tools like a spring compressor.

It%26#039;s not terribly hard, but you do need some good tools,

a big jack, jack stands etc.|||You%26#039;ll need a spring compressor which poses a mild potential of killing you if used improperly if the strut flies out of the spring (I head a story where a mechanic had the strut go through his jaw and killed him).

You also will have to take the beast to a mechanic to get it aligned after you install the shocks.

Don%26#039;t let them charge you more than an hour labor per side.

How to change rear shock absorbers on 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. They are hard to get to.?

Some Marquis have the self leveling option. I haven%26#039;t had the opportunity to work on that type to know how complicated or not. Regular rear shocks on full size rear wheel drive are very basic. However, before starting I would soak them down with PB Blaster or something similar. The old bolts and rubber grommets are very stubborn to drive out due to all the years of road slop.

How difficult is it to change shock absorbers on a renault laguna t reg

can they fail if there are no leaks on them|||Front or back ?

Front the shock absorber is in the machpereson strut so it is a bit of a job and you wheel need some good spring clamps

Rear if it is like most renaults will be quite easy.

They can fail an MOT if they are leaking or if they are not damping properly. This is checked by the examiner bouncing the car

Is it worth the trouble to change my shock absorbers myself on a 97 explorer?

You can do it even cheaper and easier than Pip. It sounds like his Pathfinder has struts instead of shocks. You have shocks on your Explorer. To replace shocks, you shouldn%26#039;t have to mess with compressing springs. It%26#039;s an easy take off and put on operation.

Here%26#039;s some directions (and it%26#039;s even easier than it sounds) :

1. Raise the front of the vehicle and place jackstands under the lower control arms. Ensure that the lower shock attaching nuts do not become obstructed by the jackstands.

2. Remove the upper shock-to-frame attaching nut, washer and insulator assembly.

3. Remove the two lower shock-to-control arm attaching nuts.

4. Slightly compress the shock absorber by hand and remove it from the vehicle.

To install:

5. Position the washer and insulator on the shock absorber rod and position the shock absorber to the upper frame bracket mount.

6. Position the insulator and washer on the shock absorber rod and install the attaching nut loosely.

7. Position the shock absorber to the lower mounting stud and install the attaching nut loosely.

8. Tighten the lower shock attaching nuts to 15-21 ft. lbs. (21-29 Nm), and the upper shock attaching bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs. (40-55 Nm).|||Yes, if you have enough tools to do it and know what you are doing.|||yes if you know what you are doing or have a buddy that knows how to do it.. on a 98 pathfinder i was quoted around 600 bucks labor and parts for the front end .. me and my buddy did it in one afternoon with a case of beer and 200 bucks... 150 for parts and about 50 on tools.. some of which was returned (we rented a few of the things we needed) but those springs are under crazy pressure and can fire threw your hood if you don%26#039;t do things right... they have a tool to keep them compressed... so make sure you have someone that knows what they are doing!

I need to change the shock absorbers on my Toyota Tacoma truck, does anyone have a diagram?

It%26#039;s a 2001, and I%26#039;m talking about the front ones. Thanks|||You%26#039;ll need to get a good pair of spring compressors for the front to get the the spring off of the shocks. If you you%26#039;ve never worked with spring compressors then, like the others have suggested, take them to a qualified mechanic and have them put them on for you. Mis-use of spring compressors could be the difference between life and death or a missing limb or finger.|||.its pretty much bolts and nuts, but if you really need a %26quot;diagram%26quot;, you wont be able to compress the coils safely, just take it to a mechanic before you get a concussion|||IF YOU NEED A DIAGRAM TO REPLACE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS YOU NEED TO LEAVE IT ALONE AND TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC.

How much does it cost to change the shock absorbers both rear and front of a 1990 Honda Accord?

I bought the Shock Absorbers already I was going to try to change them but it looks to difficult. So basically I just want to know how much does it cost to replace them, if i take the shock absorbers to the mechanic? By the way I live in LA, Thank you|||tough to say, you can call and ask them they should know right off the top of their heads. I know at places like Sears Auto Center it would be 18 dollars a shock, but they won%26#039;t work with things you purchased outside of them for liability and warranty issues. Call you closest mechanic and ask him!

How long do auto shock absorbers last?

Do we need to routinely change shock absorbers after 10 or 20 years?|||Depends greatly on the quality of the roads you use. 10 years is really treading the outer limit of shock life, assuming the car is a daily driver. The real problem is that they go bad slowly over a long period so you don%26#039;t notice how bad they are until the new ones go on and you think %26quot;I should have done this years ago.%26quot; Good Luck.|||They will last a long time. Ive had them last over 100,000 miles. Most people don%26#039;t change them unless there are having problems with them. The car bouncing excessive after a bump.

Do you touch car shock absorbers when changing car springs?

I recently got new front springs put in my car and now im having problems going over bumps (banging noise) I took it back to the garage and they said i need new shock absorbers. I never had any problems like this before i changed the springs. Could it be caused by changing the springs? Would the garage have touched the shock absorbers when changing the springs and maybe damaged them?|||Depends on the make and model of you car? Most cars have struts, which is the shocker is in the centre, and the road spring is fitted onto it.May not have been reassembled properly?Look for any leaks as shockers have oil in them?A second opinion would also help you.Hope this helps|||The nut that hold the springs on is connected to the front Shock absorbers so they must have touched them!

That doesn%26#039;t mean to say the shocks were damaged by the mechanics though!|||They might have touched them, but there%26#039;s very little they could do to sabotage them in any way. A regular problem with car%26#039;s is... When you repair the weakest part, the next weakest part breaks, and so on.

Why did you need new springs ? Apart from actual metal fatigue breakage, I%26#039;ve never needed to replace one.

Can you get a second opinion anywhere ?|||The shock is a great solid metal tube so %26quot;touching%26quot; it wont damage them unless they took them off and maybe bent them on purpose in a vice or threw them around the place, they are pretty sturdy items and quite solid, being they take the weight of your car and yourselves all the time touching them will not damage them.

Unless the springs are not fitted back on correctly i would suggest the problem was both the shocks and the springs at the time and both actually needed changing...you can change the spring without changing the shock most of the time but eventually the shocks will go for all the weight they carry.
